“Protecting our common denominator - - Our Children”
The mission of the Children’s Law Center is to provide quality legal representation and advocacy for children and their families in legal and administrative proceedings
and to promote improvement in those processes and in the delivery of appropriate services.
The Children’s Law Center is a private, non-profit corporation founded in 1987 and is the only organization of its kind in the Southeast dedicated exclusively to addressing
the legal needs of children.
In 2001 alone, CLC represented more than 2,000 children, including children who were:
- caught in contested custody disputes
- confined to a mental health facility
- charged with offenses in juvenile court
- struggling because special education needs were not being met.

The work of the CLC attorneys is performed in and outside of the courtroom. They work hard resolving the problems of children and families before they ever get to a courtroom.
But the CLC attorneys can not do it alone. It takes the combined efforts of nearly 200 trained volunteers to help our community’s children.
