Event to Celebrate Mardi Gras and Help Local Children
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (January 25, 2002) - Kick off Mardi Gras for a good cause! Beads for Needs, a Mardi Gras-themed fundraiser to benefit the Children's Law Center, will be Thursday, February 7, 2002, from 6-10 p.m. at the First Union Atrium, 301 S. Tryon Street. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
The Children's Law Center is a private, nonprofit corporation providing legal representation and advocacy for children involved in court or administrative proceedings in Mecklenburg County. With a staff of only 10, the Children's Law Center represented 2,000 children last year, and there are more than 240 cases pending locally.
The Feb. 7 event will have a Mardi Gras theme and will feature live music from the Voltage Brothers, food from area restaurants and lots of fun. Expected attendance is about 850.
